DrummerUp — free e-drum practice in your browser, with every hit scored
DrummerUp is a free web app for electronic drum practice. Write a groove or exercise, play it on your USB-MIDI electronic drum kit — or on your computer keyboard or a touch screen — and DrummerUp scores the timing of every hit in real time. It reads the MIDI notes your kit sends; it never uses a microphone.
What you can do
- Write your own patterns in a drum notation editor: per-bar time signatures, per-beat subdivisions (triplets, sextuplets and more), accents, ghost notes, grace notes and R/L sticking on every note. Patterns render as standard drum notation and can be exported as PDF.
- Get scored in real time: every hit is judged Perfect (±25 ms), Great (±50 ms), Good (±90 ms) or Miss, with extra hits counted, plus a total score, accuracy and average timing offset.
- Find the problem in the score report: micro-timing scatter plot, Velocity Consistency Analysis, left/right hand timing analysis (based on the sticking you mark) and hand–foot coordination analysis — then practice that part again.
- Calibrate latency with a built-in latency test, so scoring reflects when you actually hit.
- Share a pattern or a whole group of patterns through a link — and import practice sets shared by teachers and other drummers.
- Connect your kit with MIDI mapping presets for Roland, Alesis, Yamaha, EFNOTE and General MIDI, or teach it your own mapping with MIDI learn.
What you need
- A browser with Web MIDI — Chrome or Edge recommended — and a USB-MIDI e-drum kit. No kit? Use the keyboard simulator on a computer or the touch simulator on a phone or tablet.
- No install and no account needed to start. Sign in with Google, GitHub, Microsoft or email to sync your patterns to the cloud and create share links.
- So far DrummerUp has only been tested with a Roland TD-17; other USB-MIDI kits should work but are untested.
